Not that long ago the American dream may have been to live in a big city. A great and exciting journey. Everything you could ever want easily available and at your fingertips. Cultural diversity to broaden your experiences. More work and school opportunities than you could ever find in a smaller town. Bright lights bright views and bright dreams. Let’s face it if done right even public transportation can also be a pro. If highly motivated one who wants to do well can reach the sky in the big city.
Welcome to the present. Now crime has always been around and it’s always been bigger in large cities. You cant just cram 8 Million people in one city and not expect crime.
However some of the cities better known for the economic activity such is Detroit, Chicago, St Louis, New Orleans Et cetera Et cetera have even further degenerated into trouble infested cesspools while crime rates have exploded. There is no doubt that the industrial age leaving the U.S. has played a part in the criminal uprising we see. Every city has been forced to significantly reduce it’s police forces enabling tyranny and criminal activity to go even further.
And if you think this is just something happening in the big cities you are sadly mistaken. A very similar pattern is being repeated all across America and some of the nation smaller towns and communities where this activity is highly unlikely.
The mainstream media is apparently teaming up with the Obama Administration to focus on Adam Lanza, James Holmes and a few other well known mass shooters until we are armed with slingshots. But in all reality gang violence and deaths related to gang violence and various criminal activity are a much greater problem. Greater problem is actually an understatement. Its a war zone. For example the shooting deaths in Chicago alone in 2012 totaled higher than all the Allied forces combined that were lost in the Afghanistan war in 2012. That’s pretty scary.
The FBI states that there are roughly 1.4 million gang members living in America today. That’s a 40% increase from 2009. There are many immediate factors to why the gang numbers have increased. For starters unemployment among this generations youth is at an all time, epidemic high. I know today’s generation is ridiculously lazy compared to previous generation(s) but that alone is not a valid excuse but just one factor of many. Millions of millions of young men come to this country illegally and have literally no way to legally support themselves once they enter our cities. One out of every three U.S. inner city children live at home with out a father. Between broken homes, no homes and illegal entry to the U.S. gangs offer more of a structured support system and feeling of “belonging” than they could ever hope get anywhere else, including the home they were born into.
While that sounds sweet lets not forget that most if not all gangs use some form of violence and crime to accomplish their objectives and goals. While large cities are crawling with gang violence some of our smaller towns and cities are also seeing large spikes in gang activity as well as its share of troubles usually only found in inner cities. The way this trend is setting its not uncommon to think more and more communities in the United States will suffer some form of gang related violence and crime if something is not done. And will anything be done? How can it when more and more problems arise pushing our youth in the wrong direction. All we can hope to do is raise and love our children the best we can and teach them how to play positive roles in society.
The gang problem however may not ever be corrected due to the factors that create it and we need to protect ourselves now more than any other time in history. As I mentioned earlier gang crime and gang related murder is at an all time high, its not even an arguable point right now. I like to use Chicago and NYC as my leading examples.
In case you didn’t know it the city of Chicago has an anti gun law similar to NYC. That’s right, it is illegal to own or posses any firearm in the city limits in Chicago. I’d say you cant get a tougher gun law than that. Look at all of the gun crimes that take place in NYC and Chicago… most of your gun crimes are from illegal guns and crooks that possess them and the gangs they belong to. This is a perfect example of why outlawing guns is ineffective and it is very much related to the adverse effects of the gangs we would hope to protect our families from. Take away guns from law abiding citizens and the bad guys will still have theirs and what do you think would happen then? Your life would be in more danger then than it ever is right now.
The amendments (including the second) were set in place for a reason. They are amazing and fair rules to live by and NEVER need editing or tampering.
If personal handguns were removed from the American people home invasions and other violent crime would rise as there would be virtually no fear from psychopaths, terrorist and other crooks.
More importantly any criminal who wants to buy a gun will still be able to obtain one until the end of time . And he will cause havoc where ever he or she wants to. This is a quote from a NRA spokesman that is very simple and effective in pushing its point. “The only thing that will stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun”. To think if you had to wait for the cops to show up as every other citizen is now defenseless around you. Do you think that if you tell that psychopath your calling 911 he will calmly drop his weapon of choice and lay down.
Enjoy getting robbed and pistol whipped at the ATM / dwelling / pick.a.place while your spouse calls 911 and waits for the cops to come. The guy next to you could have saved your life. Just because you don’t own a gun doesn’t mean you should fear them. Educate yourself today. Your liberties are about to be removed for you and the rest of your family bloodline.
I work with the underbelly of society, in a prison with many gang members and I listen and listen. I listen to the inmates talk and gab.
They all have a general consensus among the inmate population that practices home invasions. The future and repeat felons avoid houses with pit bulls/shepherds and rottweilers for starters. They also avoid invading homes where they know its occupants to be carrying firearms. They only prey on the weak and the unarmed…. I assure you of this.
There is a grey area with thin ice they don’t usually tread on, and that’s the unknown. I promise you if you remove the doubt and the unknowing from the crooks mind that its victims couldn’t possibly be carrying personal weapons (firearms)… home invasions would explode. Not to mention other crime. The 2nd Amendment is in place to protect the ones we love. Charlton Heston said it best. I do not even need to quote him.
And while defending the right to own guns, we should never forget the main purpose and biggest need for the 2nd amendment is to keep the government owned by the people. As we give up our rights and responsibilities, like gun ownership, we give up ownership of our country – the only country ever to be owned by the people. The ownership is changing hands fast. Maybe it needs to happen so we can hit rock bottom and eventually clean house, who knows. But we know one thing for sure. We need to protect ourselves by any means possible. That goes for the big cities with strict gun laws as well.
Thanks for liking this post! I find this topic one of the most disturbing and scary to talk about. It is on my mind often and is why I am in the process of moving “Out to the country.”
