Build a great can food storage rack for cheap

If you ask around about food storage you will find the same answer more often than not about eating what you store and rotating your food.  Rule number one: store what you eat and eat what you store. Rule number two: rotate your stock from oldest to newest as to eat your older rations first.

Well this can be a daunting task if you (like so many others) simply stuff your canned goods into your cabinet at random, and pick out what ever looks good when you are hungry. With out organization you are left with chaos.

If you have the space in your pantry a rack similar to this wouldn’t hurt. As you can see from the picture you simply fill the rack with newer canned goods leaving the older towards the exit shoot. The angled L-bracket keeps the canned goods in place. Not only does this automatically rotate your stock but it also will free up pantry space and make your canned goods easier to access.

What really makes this unit so special is the simplicity of it. There really isn’t that much to this thing. I am sure if one wanted to sand it down and give it a nice stain and polyurethane it could look rather sharp as well.
