Five Finger Death Punch Drummer Sworn In As Police Officer

Former Five Finger Death Punch drummer Jeremy Spencer became a Rockport Police Department reserve officer on Sunday.

Rockport, IN – The former Five Finger Death Punch drummer has done something quite remarkable with his life, he has sworn in as a police officer in his home State of Indiana with the Rockport police.

β€œI was recently sworn in as a Reserve Police Officer of the Rockport, Indiana Police Department by city Mayor Gay Ann Harney,” the Boonville, Indiana Drummer said in his Instagram post.

β€œI’m still a resident of Las Vegas, NV, but It’s an honor to be able to come back to this area when I can and serve the community as a reserve police officer and help out my brothers,” he also said.

In 2005 Officer Spencer signed up with Five Finger Death Punch as their drummer, as reported by WFIE.

After 13 amazing years with the band, in the 4th quarter of 2018, Spencer took a break from his position as the rock beat man and scheduled his second back surgery after what he says “years of rigorous physical wear and tear”.

“I feel fortunate that my body has provided me with several decades of doing what I love: playing double-bass and shredding the drums,” the drummer mentions β€œHowever, the rigorous physical wear and tear has worn down my body to the point where I feel I can no longer deliver a performance you great fans deserve and one that brings me satisfaction and joy.”

β€œIn addition, I feel the band deserves to get someone with fresh fire and energy β€” capable of delivering DEATH PUNCH music the way fans deserve,” he also mentioned.

Even though Spencer’s awesome career with the band has come to an end, he is just getting started as an icon in a different light.

β€œLife’s about experience, so to me this was great and I think this is going to be great now. You just see the impact they have on everyone’s life. It’s so important.” he told WFIE shortly after his swearing-in ceremony.

Spencer said he has been training along side the Rockport Police Department (RPD), and that he has always looked up to law enforcement officers. This does not come as a terrible surprise, as Officer Spencer and his old bandmates have always been huge supporters of first respondents, law enforcement and military vets. They pay tribute to them often in their various songs and music videos. They continue to honor those who have served. In September of 2018 they donated almost 100,000k to C.O.P.S., a charitable organization that helps the families suffering from losing a family member in the line of duty.

Officer Spencer recently completed the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy’s introductory basic course, and after having one more back disc replacement surgery, feels he will be ready to walk the toughest beat in the world. Kudos to you fine sir!
