Quickly deploy a hardened concrete shelter (just add water)

Now this is cool. If you ever find yourself in a jam and need a quick shelter there are concrete canvas shelters that could fit your needs just right. Maybe recent military members have seen these concrete canvas shelters in use but I do not remember this style in use. Very interesting.

I guess once you have the shelter positioned properly setup is straightforward. You need to lay it out flat, and also have the ability to inflate the shelter using a generator. Also enough water to saturate the canvas so it hardens. The site that provides this states it will be operational in 24 hours.

CCS have two major advantages over conventional tented shelter:

– Operational: CCS enable a hardened structure from day one of an operation. They provide much better environmental protection, increased security and vastly improved medical capability.

– Financial: CCS have a design life of over 10 years, whereas tents wear out rapidly and must then be replaced. CCS are a one stop solution, saving effort and cost over the lifetime of medium to long term operations.

The key to CCS is the use of inflation to create a surface that is optimized for compressive loading. This allows thin walled concrete structures to be formed which are both robust and lightweight.

It says the shelter can be covered in earth, sand or snow proving excellent thermal performance. they also state the unit is fireproof due to its ceramic nature and the plastic on the inner portion of the shelter is also sterile. I will post a video and link to the website, but be forewarned I could not find a price. I am sure something of this magnitude is expensive.
